VIDEO: Applying For Clerkships In A (Still) Broken System

Clerkships can be invaluable experiences that teach research, writing, and lawyering skills. They can also be enriching personal experiences and provide mentorship from judges and lead to friendships with co-clerks. But clerkships may not be the right choice for all students, nor are clerkships always the wonderful experience that people might expect. Check out our panelists’ conversation about the realities of applying to clerkships and the nuts and bolts of being a clerk. We also discussed applying for clerkships in a system that undervalues diverse candidates. We hope this information will empower students to get the information they need so they can make the right decision for themselves.
Panelists: Emma Janger (moderator), Greg Washington, Clara Spera, and Deeva Shah.
